Red Dead Redemption on PC Welcomed by Positive Reviews

You can’t blame Rockstar Games for not going all-in on modern ports of its classic titles lately after what happened with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. But it appears the stumble from a few years back was necessary because we’ve gotten banger after banger from the beloved developer since, and the PC port of Red Dead Redemption on PC is no exception.

After being released on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch last year, where it sold well and even received PlayStation 5-exclusive upgrades, Rockstar tapped Double Eleven to bring the game to the PC.

Judging by how well it’s reviewing on Steam, it’s safe to say that Rockstar has another hit on their hands.

All that’s missing now is for Red Dead Revolver to get re-released for modern platforms.

As of the moment of writing, Red Dead Redemption is sitting over 500 reviews on Steam with a “Very Positive” rating. The only point of contention so far is that Rockstar priced the re-release of the decade-old game too high at $50 but most are happy with the value that they’re getting.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 also on sale on the same platform – Black Friday and Cyber Monday are both around the corner too, so expect to see a bigger price drop – now’s the perfect time to see what the fuss is all about the Red Dead Redemption franchise if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.

With Red Dead Redemption now finally out of console prison and Rockstar finding a worthy partner in Double Eleven, we’re hoping that they’ll consider digging deep into its bag of older titles. We’d be interested to see what it can do to the original Red Dead Revolver game, which remains unavailable on modern platforms.

The way that we see it, Rockstar could re-release Red Dead Revolver on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch next year, with a PC port coming soon after before re-releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 on current-gen consoles, and eventually the entire series under one trilogy package.

At the very least, this would help Rockstar buy time for Red Dead Redemption 3 while keeping Red Dead fans busy for a couple of years.
