Red Dead Redemption Climbs Up Steam Top Sellers Chart

The Red Dead Redemption PC port has become one of the best selling games on Steam less than 24 hours after Rockstar Games dropped more details about the upcoming PC release. The news comes despite major backlash regarding its pricing, with many on the internet criticizing Rockstar for charging fans $50 for a game that’s over a decade old.

It’s worth noting that Red Dead Redemption received similar criticism when it came out on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch last year. Many complained that Rockstar put in minimal effort to make the 2010 title available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. However, the game did receive an upgrade on the PlayStation 5. Also, it still sold well, with Take-Two Interactive CEO defending the pricing of the remaster while critics gave it an 83 score on PS4.

Unlike the PS4 and Nintendo Switch version, Red Dead Redemption on PC is getting a host of substantial improvements and features, including native support for the likes of 4K resolution, 144 frames per second, and other technologies like Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0. So, simply put, Red Dead Redemption on PC will be a far superior product compared to the PS4 and PS5, which would explain why it’s selling so well so fast.

Red Dead Redemption’s PC port could end up being in the Top 10 of Steam’s most-played games on October 29.

According to SteamDB, Red Dead Redemption on PC is already 32nd on the Top Sellers list and 63rd in Wishlists ahead of its release on October 29.

Considering that this is a Rockstar Games title we’re talking about, it wouldn’t surprise us if Red Dead Redemption becomes even more popular on PC compared to on the PS4 and Switch. If nothing else, the amount of mods that will likely be available on launch day would make it one of the most-played titles on Steam for a while.

While waiting for Red Dead Redemption on PC, you can play Red Dead Online, which just received its latest monthly update. Also, for the more curious fans, did you know that there’s an unintended Easter Egg for Red Dead Revolver in a non-Rockstar title?
