Three major voice actors from Red Dead Redemption can barely contain their excitement about the franchise, for some reason.
It all started last Friday when Rob Wiethoff, the voice behind John Marston, dropped a bombshell during a livestream. While playing Red Dead Redemption, he casually mentioned having some exciting news that he couldn’t share just yet. According to Wiethoff, fans would find out by the end of this week, definitely before Friday.
But Wiethoff wasn’t done stirring the pot. He also mentioned that he wouldn’t be the only one sharing this mysterious news, which is where Roger Clark comes in.
The man who brought Arthur Morgan to life in Red Dead Redemption 2 recently responded to a fan on X who asked him if he knew what Wiethoff was talking about.
Clark’s response was simple yet telling. He replied with just one word: “Yes,” accompanied by a GIF of a dog wearing a knowing, mischievous smile.
This brief exchange might seem insignificant, but it actually revealed more than Clark probably intended.
The fan specifically asked about “Red Dead news,” and Clark confirmed it without correcting them. This suggests that whatever’s coming is indeed related to the Red Dead franchise, despite Wiethoff never explicitly saying so in his original tease.
As if two voice actors weren’t enough “proof”, a third cast member decided to join the party.
Noshir Dalal, who voiced Charles Smith in Red Dead Redemption 2, responded to Clark’s tweet with his own cryptic GIF.
For Red Dead Redemption enthusiasts, the most likely scenario involves the 2018 game finally getting the current-generation treatment it deserves.
Red Dead Redemption 2 originally launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One back in 2018, followed by a PC release in 2019.
Despite being one of the most visually stunning games of its generation (and selling very, very, very well), console players are still limited to playing the last-gen version, while PC gamers enjoy enhanced graphics and performance.
A native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version would be massive. The game already looks incredible on older hardware, so imagine what Rockstar could achieve with the power of current-generation consoles.
Enhanced textures, improved lighting, faster loading times, and potentially even ray tracing could transform an already beautiful game into something truly spectacular.
There’s also speculation about a Nintendo Switch 2 port, especially given recent reports suggesting Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, plans to support Nintendo’s upcoming console more than any previous Nintendo platform at launch.
The fact that multiple cast members are involved suggests this isn’t just a minor update or patch.
When voice actors get this excited about something they can’t talk about, it usually means they’ve been involved in the project in some way, whether through new recordings, promotional materials, or being briefed on significant developments.
If Wiethoff’s timeline holds, fans won’t have to wait much longer to discover what all this secrecy is about.
By Friday, the Red Dead Redemption community might finally get the announcement they’ve been waiting years to hear.
