Red Dead Redemption fans might want to clear their calendars for the next few days.
Rob Wiethoff, the talented voice actor who brought gunslinger John Marston to life in both Red Dead Redemption titles, has dropped a massive hint that something big is coming.
During a recent Twitch livestream where he was playing through the original Red Dead Redemption, Wiethoff suddenly paused the game to reveal that he’s sitting on some major news that he desperately wants to share but can’t quite yet. He emphasized that fans won’t have to wait long, promising the announcement would come before Friday, though not as early as tomorrow.
i wonder what this could mean?

What makes this tease particularly intriguing is Wiethoff’s obvious struggle to keep the secret. He admitted he can barely think about anything else. The actor also mentioned he won’t be the only one sharing this news, suggesting this is an official announcement involving multiple parties, likely including Rockstar Games themselves.
Just last week, industry insider Nate the Hate reported that sources close to Rockstar had informed him that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime this year.
But the rumors don’t stop there. There’s also been persistent speculation about enhanced versions of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Currently, the award-winning 2018 title runs at 30 frames per second on current-generation consoles through backward compatibility. A proper next-gen update could potentially double that framerate to 60 FPS, along with other visual improvements that would make the already stunning game look even better.
The Red Dead franchise has seen renewed interest lately. The first game finally made its way to PC last year, fourteen years after its initial release and over a year after being available on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 (with an unexpected update on the PlayStation 5).
The port was a massive commercial success, proving there’s still a tremendous appetite for the franchise.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 now delayed into 2025, Rockstar’s focus remains firmly on their flagship franchise. A new Red Dead game announcement before GTA 6‘s release would be unprecedented for the studio.
The fact that Wiethoff made this tease while specifically playing the first Red Dead Redemption has led some to wonder if the news might relate to that game rather than its sequel. Perhaps we’re looking at a full remake of the 2010 classic, or additional content for the recent PC release.
As the countdown to Friday begins, the actor’s extreme enthusiasm suggests it’s something more substantial than a simple port or minor update.
