The infamous road connecting Calais in France to Duisburg in Germany is gone.
With the latest update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 by SCS Software, the Benelux rework has been released. This rework covers a substantial part of the road that tens of thousands of players have been driving on daily.
In real life, there is no such country road connecting the two cities, and we knew the road would eventually disappear. In February of 2025, SCS Software announced the rework of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg and discussions started regarding whether TruckersMP might keep the road and if not, where the new ‘CD road’ might be.
Many of us have created a TruckersMP account after seeing videos or streams of the chaos that can erupt on the road. Even PC Gamer wrote an article on its congestion titled ‘This multiplayer mod for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has one chaotic, congested road that can’t be fixed’.
Let’s take a moment to recap what this road has meant for many of us and how it has developed.
A Brief History of the CD Road
When TruckersMP (formerly ETS2MP) first released in May 2014, the CD road was nowhere near its current popularity. Many players, however, did jobs between mainland Europe and the United Kingdom – keep in mind, the map was much smaller back then, without the number of DLCs we have nowadays. This led to the Europoort near Rotterdam gaining popularity and for years, this has been the hotspot for players.

Around 2016, the Calais-Duisburg road started gaining in popularity and quickly became the busiest road on TruckersMP. Both cities, Calais and Duisburg, underwent several reworks by both SCS Software and TruckersMP in an attempt to better cater to the number of players using these cities to start and end their drives in. The intersection with the highway to Brussels and Rotterdam was also reworked as traffic jams started building up on both sides. With a rise in traffic and people driving with friends during COVID-19, demands for larger rest areas required an expansion of the two gas stations on the route, also introducing our Patron-only parking.

Where we are headed next
We are working on supporting the update as soon as possible. Keep an eye on our social media and Discord to be the first to know when support for this update is released. We might also have a special event planned for the coming days…
TruckersMP will not bring back the CD road. The edits to Calais and Duisburg will also be removed. We believe that the rework of the Benelux area is beautiful and the perfect moment for a much-needed change. During the last couple of weeks, before the release of the update, the Alps have gained in popularity but have also gained in performance issues as the area is already quite resource-demanding on its own. We have also seen a rise in traffic from Frankfurt to Prague, which is a beautiful route to drive and of similar length to the C-D road. Or will players stay closer to the original route and be willing to take more highways? Who knows!
Over the coming months, we will monitor the traffic before implementing any traffic improvement measures, as we did on the CD road: larger gas stations and rest areas, improved timings of traffic lights, or one-way systems in big cities. We will only implement these where absolutely necessary.
Rest assured, this new era will bring a new busy route.
Happy trucking!
