Cut Out Fur From Busy Backgrounds In Photoshop

Cut Out Fur From Busy Backgrounds In Photoshop

In this Photoshop tutorial, you will learn how to cut out fur from busy backgrounds!

This tutorial is a request from a PTC viewer,  João Faro from Portugal. He sent in this photo of his cat asking how to remove the background.

The image is not of very good quality and it is shot up against a busy background which makes it an ideal image for today’s tutorial!

In this video, you will learn three techniques that will help you cut out fur or hair in images with different backgrounds.

First, you will learn how to customize a brush in Photoshop to help you create the illusion of fur as you paint on the mask.

Then you will learn how to use the clone stamp tool to hide imperfections that you create with your hairbrush on your mask.

And finally, you will learn how to pain in strands of fur and hair in areas that would be difficult to mask.

The secret to masking fur on difficult to select images is to paint in the fur on the mask yourself than to paint in strands of hair when necessary.

Don’t forget to check out all my making tutorials on YouTube. I created a playlist where you can check them out!
