Specialist Role Bonuses Arrive to Red Dead Online

The frontier rewards hard work, and doubly so this month – Red Dead Online‘s latest bonuses are focused on the five Specialist Roles that your character can either choose from or go all-in on. Twice the usual rewards on all the main Role activities are joined by further opportunities as well as giveaways, discounts and offers.

The introduction of Roles with the Frontier Pursuits update was the biggest single addition of gameplay and progression depth that Red Dead Online got, and the initial trio of the Bounty Hunter, Collector and Trader were later joined by the Moonshiner and the Naturalist. These Roles are occupying the spotlight this month.

To get the formulaic stuff out of the way first; Bounty Missions, Moonshiner Sales, Trader Sales, Collector Sets and Naturalist Sample Sales are all paying out double the usual amount of XP and, more importantly, RDO$ – however, other than this blanket bonus, some more role-specific offers are also on the menu.

If you successfully complete a Bounty between today and May 6, you’ll unlock the Benbow Jacket for free. Completing any Moonshiner Sale between May 7 and May 13 will make you eligible for an Offer for 8 Gold Bars off the Moonshiner Bar Décor Upgrade. You can unlock the Calhoun Boots by completing any Trader Sale between May 14 and May 20.

Delivering Naturalist samples between May 21 and May 27 will net you 3 Legendary Animal Pheromones and 50 Rifle Sedative Ammo rounds for free. If you dig up three or more Collector items between May 28 and June 3, you’ll unlock the Concho Pants for free.

You’ll note how each Role’s dedicated reward is staggered week by week – since Red Dead Online puts no limits on how many Roles any character can master, this gives true renaissance folk a chance to indulge all their professions without it becoming a mad dash.

Additional bonuses through the 3rd of June include a free silver Raccoon Hat if you manage to sample any Legendary Animal, and an Offer for 50% off any Established/Distinguished Role item if you complete a Role Challenge. Meanwhile, the Featured Series is awarding 4x XP, while winners also get a 10 Gold Bar discount off the starting item of any of the five Roles.

In case any of you have a burning desire to start hating your Red Dead Online character, you can dress them up in a new Community Outfit that pays homage to Micah Bell, most hated Red Dead character. Players can claim the component items of this outfit for free this month.

On the note of clothing, retuning fashion items this month include the Vaquero Baroque Spurs, Darned Stockings, Lister Hat, Carbow Double Bandolier, and Macbay Jacket. Of the discounts, most interesting are the 5 Gold Bar discounts on Role starting items, and the Prestigious Bounty Hunter license.
